From Randy Pace, Host/Reunion Coordinator:

The next Pace Society of America reunion will be held June 16-18, 2022 in Williamsburg, Virginia. The conference will be held at the Holiday Inn & Suites – Historic Gateway, 515 Bypass Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185. For more info about the hotel go to: https://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotels/us/en/williamsburg/wbgbr/hoteldetail
Since the Historic Jamestowne Site, Jamestowne Settlement, and Colonial Williamsburg have become some of the top tourist and convention destinations and attractions in the country, the hotel is requiring a deadline to cancel Pace Society conference reservations by March 15th, which is 90 days in advance of the conference dates. Perhaps also this is due to Covid-19 uncertainty, but nevertheless, I am urging and imploring you to make your hotel reservations NOW so that we will have a known guarantee of the number of hotel rooms reserved to meet our hotel contract specifications. So call 757 229-9990 and make your reservations ASAP. We have a special Summer Group discount rate of $159.95 for standard 2 Queen beds in the room. When you call be sure to mention the special rate for the Pace Society of American reunion. You can hold your reservations with a credit card. Hotel reservations book up quickly in Williamsburg. I was there in Sept 2020 during the week, stayed at this hotel which was completely booked! Again, call now and book your rooms.
We will have complete details and costs about the other activities during the reunion in the next Bulletin with a final DEADLINE of February 20th, 2022 for registration for the Pace Society of America reunion !! If at that time, you have made your hotel reservations, but cannot attend for some reason, you can cancel your hotel reservations without issue. But make hotel reservations NOW.
We are planning on visiting Friday, June 17th Historic Jamestowne site with a special tour by Park Ranger, Mark Summers. Then we are trying to arrange a special lecture and book signing by Dr James Horn, who has just published his new book, “A Brave and Cunning Prince – The Great Chief Opechancanough and the War for America.” His book is very timely, as on March 22, 1622, the Powhatan-Anglo War began with the surprise attack on Jamestowne, and March 2022 will be the 400th Anniversary of the commemoration of that event in history. Furthermore, Richard Pace, Ancient Planter, was instrumental in warning the colony of that impending attack! That night at the banquet, our guest speaker will be Connie Lapallo, author of the Jamestowne Trilogy about the women and children of Jamestowne. For more info about Connie, please go to: http://connielapallo.com/

We are planning on visiting on Saturday, June 18th Mount Pleasant Plantation, the site of original Paces Paines, but they will not have all their required visitation requirements to us until late October. At that time, we will see if our visit will be feasible or not. More info about Mount Pleasant Plantation can be found at: http://mountpleasantplantation.com/ We also plan to visit Smith’s Fort that same day, tour the house and grounds, and archaeological site with our guide being, Nick Luccketti, although he has not finalized his monetary requirements as of yet. More info about his activities can be found at: http://www.jriarchaeology.com/pages/luccketti.htm as well as Smith’s Fort, go to: https://preservationvirginia.org/historic-sites/smiths-fort-plantation/ Also for descendants of John Pace of Middlesex County, Virginia, we are checking into the feasibility of an alternate tour to Christ Church Parish, Saluda, Virginia. For more info about the church, go to: http://christchurchmiddlesex.thediocese.net/default.asp Also that night at our banquet, we will be honored to hear Dr. Joseph Kelly, author of the book, “Marooned.” For further info about Joseph Kelly and his book, please go to: https://vimeo.com/303531775 and https://english.cofc.edu/faculty-staff-listing/kelly-joe.php
Of course, there will be other activities that are in the works for one and all to enjoy. Hope to see all of you in Williamsburg in 2022 as it has been far, far too long since we could gather safely at the reunion in Hendersonville, North Carolina. See you in Williamsburg. And remember, make your hotel reservations NOW !!!! Thanks !!!
